In our technology-driven world, nature is a respite from the bombardment of screens, and color can help renew our connection to the natural world. Biophilic design references nature not only with elements like shape and texture—think leaves, stones, and tactile surfaces—but also by incorporating its colors.
As we eagerly await spring, here are some colors we’re enjoying, inspired by the vibrant greens and loamy browns that pop when the weather warms.
Greens, like Acrovyn® 1595 Cucumber, create calm and, in healthcare, through natural views, have been linked to better recovery outcomes.
Brown, terra firma, is a grounding color that adds warmth to a space. It’s the antithesis of gray. It has life because it yields life. Acrovyn 1215 Earth is the perfect backdrop to highlight the freshness of green.
In addition to 1215 Earth, look for Acrovyn 187 Tan Bark, Acrovyn Strata 1738 Ash Blonde, and the wood-like finish of STYX™ 022 Vanilla Ash.
We’ve also been playing with blending a variety of finishes, such as Acrovyn by Design® Metallics—perhaps 18193 Lime Juice or 18184 Wheat Grass—that provide a shimmer of green, with CSelect™ Fabric for privacy curtains—Bark Sunshine or Bark Tidewater—that allude to bark structure, and Acrovyn Woodgrains. This season we like 1604 New Oak Drama and 1737 Aged Oiled Walnut—that bring warmer tones into a space.
The colors of spring will brighten spaces and bring them to life. So let your interiors “grow.”
